For this month’s edition of #GotGrants, we are expanding slightly outside of our typical scope. We are including not just grant funding opportunities, but also a loan program that could be an ideal opportunity for some agencies. Take a look at some of these opportunities below!
1. California Lending for Energy and Environmental Needs (CLEEN) Center
Who: Public Agency- cities, counties, special districts, assessment districts, joint powers authorities and non-profit corporations (as deemed eligible), municipalities, public universities, schools and hospitals.
What: The CLEEN Center offers two programs: the Statewide Energy Efficiency Program (SWEEP) and the Light Emitting Diode Street Lighting Program (LED). Financing can be through a direct loan from IBank or through publicly offered tax-exempt bonds in amounts from $500 thousand to $30 million.

How Much: Total estimated funding- $100 million (bonds in amounts from $500 thousand to $30 million)

2. Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) Program – Water/Energy Audit
Who: Nonprofit, Public Agency, Tribal Government
What: The applicant agency is encouraged to study water and energy in the audit, but may focus on one or the other. All audits must be related to projects, facilities, or activities that are otherwise eligible for CWSRF funding. Agencies may hire consultants to perform the audit, or perform the work with their own staff. Principal forgiveness may be awarded for 100% of the audit costs, up to a maximum of $35,000

How Much: Total projected dollar amount of the grant: $2,000,000 (maximum of $35,000)

3. 2021 COUNTY COORDINATORS GRANT OPPORTUNITY
Who: Priority will be given to counties with a high percentage of Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zones and a higher proportion of disadvantaged and/or low-income communities.
What: The objective of the County Coordinators Grant is to educate, encourage, and develop county-wide collaboration and coordination among various wildfire mitigation groups operating within counties containing State Responsibility Area (SRA) lands. Up to 24 counties will receive a grant of $175,000, to be used to cover administrative costs relevant to county-wide coordination efforts, including but not limited to the salary, support, and administrative costs for a designated County Coordinator.
