PG&E | Introducing AMP!

Are you among the many Californians who are struggling in these difficult times? PG&E’s financial assistance programs offer solutions for paying past-due energy bills now, and additional support programs that provide guidance on reducing household expenses in the future. The newly launched Arrearage Management Program or AMP is here to do just that. You may qualify for several programs at once. You can begin applying or enrolling now—you don't need to wait until summer.

What is AMP and what are the requirements?
This program that launched in February of this year offers debt forgiveness for customers who have been struggling to pay their energy bills each month. With each on-time payment, 1/12 of debt owed is forgiven After 12 on-time payments of current monthly charges, eligible debt will be forgiven up to $8,000 if you:

  • Are enrolled in the PG&E CARE or FERA program

  • Owe at least $500 on your gas and electric bill, or at least $250 if a gas-only customer

  • Are a PG&E customer with bills past due more than 90 days

  • APPLY BY CALLING 1-800-743-5000

Apply for AMP in three easy steps
Please call us at 1-800-743-5000, to get started:

  • Step 1: PG&E’s Call Center Service Representative (CSR) will help walk you through our program and the application process.

  • Step 2: Our Credit Team will review your application and determine if your household meets the requirements for enrollment.

  • Step 3: Once approved, you will receive a customer notification confirming your enrollment within 1 to 3 business days.

 Additional Questions:
What happens if I miss a payment?
You can miss up to two non-sequential payments, as long as you make up the payment on the next billing due date with an on-time payment of both the current bill and the missed payment(s). Missing two sequential payments, or failing to pay the 12th payment, will automatically remove you from AMP.

What happens if I sign up for AMP but then can't keep up with my regular monthly payments?
If you break the AMP before reaching twelve on-time payments, there is no impact to the debt that has already been forgiven. However, your remaining debt will not be eligible to be forgiven.

Can I sign up again after completing the AMP program?
Once you complete the AMP, you are eligible to sign up again after a 12-month waiting period.
