Breaking News! SJVCEO is on Spotify and we want to gas you up!

Good lord, was there ever a better day than November 13, 2019? I should say when my kid was born, which sure, I’m super happy he’s here, but really that day was pretty miserable. But 11/13/19? That was golden. Why?  Well, we can’t quite share all the reasons why just yet, but it was good news, on top of good news, on top of good news.  And it was Rochelle’s birthday, so there was just so much happening, and I had ZERO CHILL all day.

Really, on our debut mix I just wanted to convey that feeling of euphoria we were sharing as a team.  And not just from the constant breaking good news, but how we as a team just kept fanning the fires via our group text.  Y’all it was a good day!

Courtney’s Picks

Victory Lap- Nipsey Hussle

“Circle for smaller, everybody can’t go” This has become a bit of a thing around the office.  As our industry keeps shifting, people keep leaving, I’m choosing to look for all the opportunity.  It’s hard after a decade to say not everyone’s coming with us, but we certainly aren’t going alone. We may not have entered our own victory lap, but we are in the race. Wow, apply that to SJVCEO, but then copy and paste it on to EE in California.

Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I’m Yours)- Stevie Wonder

For real though? Don’t you just want to be happy when you hear this? Like get up and dance happy? Find me all uplifting Stevie Wonder and maybe you’ll be 50% of my enthusiasm on this day!

Don’t Rain on My Parade- Glee Cast

Yes, I prefer the Glee version.  Find me on Twitter @courtkalashian and @ me.  I don’t care. When I’m feeling good I’m 100% a show tune.  Give me the lights, the costumes, the stage and let me go! Go to 1:54, that’s what on my heart.

Can’t Hold Us- Macklemore and Ryan Lewis

I hate cardio—stay with me here, I’ll tie this back—but this song has a direct line to my adrenaline.  I can be struggling and this comes on and suddenly I’m an Olympic marathoner. And really, on 11/13 this is how I felt all day, just full of energy and needing to run.  It really felt like the ceiling couldn’t hold us.

Kelsey’s Picks:

Radio Gaga- Queen

An underrated Queen song and Freddie Mercury. That’s it.

A Head Full of Dreams- Coldplay

This is the degree of euphoria that Courtney was referring to. “A head full of dreams, you can see the change you want to, be what you want to be.” If this doesn’t give us hope for 2020 and beyond, I don’t know what does.

*Disclaimer: I also saw Coldplay perform this song live and there was confetti and fireworks shooting into the sky so my opinion of this magic may be slightly bias.

All Day Long- Chance the Rapper and John Legend

Beyond the fact that I can recite the lyrics from the first 30 seconds of this song (yes it took hours of practice), this song tells us to stay true to who we are and support to one another ALL DAY LONG.

Good As Hell- Lizzo

Another Lizzo feature (thank you Sam for your excellent choice with Truth Hurts) that not only tells us “dust your shoulders off, keep it moving” when things may get tough, but it keeps this gal group feeling good as hell!

Samantha’s Picks:

Happier- Marshmello

Apologies ahead of time if the song stays with you all day. No matter my mood this song can make me do car karaoke. Hopefully, it does the same for you.

What’s My Age Again- Blink 182

I ask myself this question each day. I may be closer to 30 than I would like to admit but in my mind, I still enjoy to act closer to 20. Enjoy a 2.5-minute timeout to not act your age!

 Truth Hurts- Lizzo

Turns out the San Joaquin Valley Clean Energy Organization is 100% that girl power! We are happy to say that we are an all-female staff of four…and growing! We had to make sure to include girl power in our DEBUT.

Best Life- Cardi B and Chance the Rapper

I told y’all, I’m livin’ my best life”  a motto to wake up to each day. Count your blessings for where you work and who you work with. Everything adds up to a happier person.

Rochelle’s Picks:

Mood 4 Eva- Beyoncé, JAY-Z, Childish Gambino and Oumou Sangare

This kinda feelin’ unforgettable, Promise this my mood 4 eva…” pretty much encapsulates the feeling of the day and our team’s collective moods.

Best Part- Daniel Caesar and H.E.R.

So, the day wasn’t COMPLETELY about the awesome things going on at work.  Exciting, work-related text messages pouring in throughout the day turned out to be like sprinkles on top of the ice cream sundae that was my birthday.  The “Best Part,” was spending time with my favorite people; my family.

Sky Walker- Miguel and Travis Scott

I feel this song’s title is self-explanatory.  You’ve got to be feeling some kind of way to feel as if you are “Sky Walking.”

 Three Little Birds- Bob Marley

Thinking back on the year leading up to 11/13/2019, there have been so many twists, turns, and changes.  However, 11/13/2019 was a reminder that we shouldn’t, “…worry about a thing, because every little thing, is gonna be alright,” as they always seem to be for the SJVCEO team.

If you have it this far, 1. Thank you for your support and 2. Stay tuned for our next playlist to be launched in December that may bring you some extra holiday spirit!
