It’s a simple measure based on a simple concept.  When you reduce the amount of time a chiller door is open you reduce the energy loss. Imagine your own a small restaurant.  You have a walk-in freezer and you and your employees are in and out of it all day long.  Sometimes it’s left wide open, sometimes it’s just a crack, and sometimes it’s closed.  There’s no consistency because the freezers efficiency is tied directly to the behavior of the users.  An auto door closer changes that! And better yet, when you install an auto door closer on your cooler or freezer you will realize immediate and continued annual savings*.

One thing to note about auto door closers that is slightly different than many energy efficiency measures is it’s a one time rebate.  You can’t upgrade down the line and get another rebate because the measure isn’t one where the effective useful life goes down over time. But that’s not really a problem because once it’s installed you start and keep saving so long as it’s there and it really adds up—saving you $1,500-2,000 annually on your utility bill!

One of the hardest lessons to learn is some doors can’t be held open.  And when you really think about it, who wants to hold the door for someone who’s undecided on whether they want to walk through it?  If someone doesn’t have the space for you, not in the way you want, it’s best to let go of that handle. It’s always better to let them come to their own conclusions than to pull them along, to pull them through. Because you should never be a guess, or a decision made from fear.  You are a choice.  But sometimes the only choice you have is to let the door close behind you.  Maybe it will open again, or maybe you’ll just keep moving ahead, opening new doors.

ADCs are a lot simpler than you may think! It closes the door behind you with no question or hesitation, while closing the door YOURSELF on a relationship is a lot harder than that. We’ve all been there a least a time or two or three right? Alas, with toxic relationships come some of the best songs. The choices I have listed below embody the notion of being trapped in a relationship and how you must push yourself out of it in order to move forward. Not as easy as an ADC, but hopefully these song choices help.

The concept of auto door closers is simple enough. They automatically close the door on a walk-in refrigerator or freezer to keep the cold air in resulting in energy savings and other benefits to the customer. However, evidently, shutting the door on toxic relationships is not quite as simple for many people. This playlist proved to be more difficult to compile because many of my favorite songs about leaving toxic relationships also talk about the perpetual cycle of coming back and that’s not good. In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, here are some of my favorite songs about folks closing that door, for good!
