PG&E | TOU plus Y-O-U!

A Little Background on Time of Use:
As part of a statewide effort to create a cleaner energy future, PG&E will transition approximately 2.5 million eligible residential electric customers to a new rate plan between April 2021 and April 2022. The Time-of-Use (Peak Pricing 4-9 p.m. Every Day) rate plan features lower prices for electricity for PG&E customers19hours a day and higher prices from 4-9 p.m., seven days a week. Prices decrease when demand is lower and renewable energy is more readily available. Customers can opt-out of Time-of-Use and choose another rate plan at any time.

The State of California is requiring all investor-owned utilities to automatically transition customers to the Time-of-Use rate plan. The plan supports using cleaner energy sources to reflect California’s focus to fight climate change.

Customers who automatically transition to the Time-of-Use rate plan will receive risk-free Bill Protection for the first 12 months. If a customer pays more on the Time-of-Use (Peak Pricing 4-9 p.m. Every Day) rate plan than they would have on the Tiered rate plan, PG&E will automatically credit the customer the difference. Customers Can Choose Their Preferred Rate Plan at Any Time
Residential customers will automatically transition to the Time-of-Use rate plan, unless they select another rate plan. Customers can decline to transition and stay on their current rate plan or choose their preferred rate plan at any time. Dedicated rate plan specialists are available at 1-866-743-7945 to answer questions and help customers choose a rate plan

As many of you may know, last year the SJVCEO partnered with PG&E to develop a virtual “Vlog Series” to enhance customer awareness on rate options, utility resources, and the time of use transition. Before addressing TOU, we were able to sit down with PG&E and discuss resources and rate options that customers have to best suite their household.

Check out our #Vlog series Parts 1, 2, and 3 below and be sure to stay tuned for our finale (part 4) going live in a few weeks!
